A couple, who allegedly engaged in shabu peddling, was arrested yesterday by the police in a buy-bust operation in Hinigaran, Negros Occidental, that also yielded an estimated P269,000 worth of prohibited drugs.
Arrested were Elena Dollete, 48, and her husband, Percival Sr., 55. But their son, Dixon, managed to escape, Chief Inspector Gary Alan Resuma, Hinigaran police officer-in-charge, said.
The buy-bust operation, that was a joint effort of the Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency of Negros Island Region, and assisted by the Hinigaran police, yielded about 26.9 grams of suspected shabu, P200 in marked money, P410 in cash believed to be proceeds from the sale of prohibited drugs, and assorted paraphernalia.
Chief Inspector Mark Anthony Darroca, AIDSOTG chief of NOCPPO, said yesterday that the couple is included in their drug watchlist of personalities in Hinigaran, and their son served as their runner.
A gram of shabu reportedly now sells at P10,000.
The arrested suspects are now detained at the Hinigaran police jail.
