Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday stressed the need to cooperate with presumptive President-elect Rodrigo Duterte for the good of the country.
Asked for his reaction on the defeat of his candidate Mar Roxas, Marañon said, “What can you do, that's democracy.”
“I hope he (Duterte) can deliver what he promised…let's give him the benefit of the doubt,” the governor said.
“The people have spoken…We will cooperate with him,” Marañon added.
He said if Duterte has something good for Negros Occidental, very good.
As of last night Duterte had 15,951,883 votes while Roxas had 9,695,931.
The governor also called for unity in Negros Occidental with the elections over to ensure peace and progress.
Marañon said that under his third term as governor, he will improve on what he has already done for the province.
He will also strengthen the education needs of Negrenses, especially with short courses and skills that will enable more people to avail of jobs faster, the governor also said.*CPG
