After turning back St. John's Institute Baby Falcons in the opening day, the STI-WNU Junior Mustangs claimed their second win at the expense of the St. La Salle Junior Stingers, 91-76, to take the lead in the 2016 Batang PBA Bacolod Leg at the STI-WNU Gym.
Philip John Majometano and Bon Brix Balontong anchored the Junior Mustangs' win with Majometano tallying 23 points, 10 of them during the first half.
Balontong finished with 19 points while Dave Agbas scored 13 markers.
The young Mustangs took the first quarter, 18-14, but the Junior Stingers grabbed the momentum in the second canto for a 25-24 lead.
The STI-WNU cagers, however, managed to keep their composure for a 42-39 advantage at halftime.
In the third quarter, the Junior Mustangs pulled away by outscoring La Salle, 30-20 for a 72-59 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Aldave Canoy and Cataluna scored 10 points each to help STI-WNU seal the win.
Polo Miguel and Riggy Alinsoring shot 23 and 20 points, respectively, to lead USLS as Nevine dela Cruz added 7 points.
Other results from the tournament showed St. Joseph School-La Salle and St. John's Institute recovering from their opening day losses to post their first win.
Ramon Lorenzo Reyes scored 21 points to lif SJLS over Trinity Christian School, 67-51, while Kurt Coloso and Christopher Suarez scored 25 and 23 points, respectively, as SJI beat Silay City, 103-83.
Clarence Tan and Miguel Robert Fernandez chipped 13 and 10 points, respectively, in supporting efforts.
Jason Gonzalesshot 19 points in the St. Joseph win while Jethro Imbang delivered 10 points for Trinity.
Daniel Coo had 18 points and Jared Tajonera shot 16 markers in the the SJI Falcons victory over Silay.
Dustyn Perez and Tony Lim have 18 points each, RC Mike Flores added 14, and Kyan Mark Andrada hit 12 points for the Silaynons.*
