14 NIR cops honored

Fourteen police commissioned and non-commissioned officers of Police Regional Office 18 were honored and conferred yesterday the Medalya ng Kagalingan by PNP chief Director General Ricardo Marquez at the Bacolod City Police Office compound.

The medal recipients were Senior Supt. Leopoldo Cabanag, Supts. Santiago Rapiz, Allan Rubi Macapagal and Mario Baquiran Jr., Chief Inspectors Mark Anthony Darroca, Benedict Poblete and Ruel Culanag, Police Inspectors Jervies Soriano and Richard Lao, Senior Police Officers 4 Allen June Germudo and Roylin Bahinting, SPO2 Aurelio Bodo, SPO1 Dennis Montebon, and PO2 Leonel Pacete.

Cabanag, director of the Regional Public Safety Battalion 18, and Baquiran, the commander of the Negros Occidental Police Public Safety Company, and several personnel of their respective units were recognized, for the recent arrest of a barangay chairman and recovery of three high-powered firearms in Bago City.

Rapiz, former Victorias City police chief, and Montebon were also recognized for their efforts, that led to the arrest of Shaun Latoza, who ranked number three among most wanted persons in the Western Visayas, with a reward of P300,000.

Darroca, Poblete, Soriano and several others were also cited for their relentless campaign against prohibited drugs and wanted persons in Negros Island Region. * GPB
