NICA/Ilonggo woodpushers
triumph in GenSan tourney

A group of topnotch chess players from Negros Occidental and Iloilo joined forces to get to the top of the recent Bobby Pacquiao Random Chess Festival in General Santos.

The Negros Integrated Chess Association (NICA)/Team Ilonggo, composed of National Master Rolando Andador, Ellan Asuela, Mark Jossel Mariano, Michael Silvederio, and Tibor Espinosa shared the team

championship with Elegant Houses of Pampanga and Pacman Team A.

Asuela also won the gold medal in Board 2.

Also with the NICA/Ilonggo Team were IM Joel Pimentel, who beat all of his rivals in the Rapid event, while Jerick Cajeras of Escalante City, won the championship in the Blitz category.

The NICA/Ilonggo Team shared the cash prize of P950,000 with the other winners. *NAB
