Rep. Alfredo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3 rd District) yesterday revealed that Israel is putting up investments in Negros Occidental.

“They would like to create the 3rd district (of Negros Occidental) into the next Silicon Valley in the Philippines”, Benitez, who invited Israeli Ambassador Effei Ben Matityau to the Philippines for the turnover ceremony of Alternative Learning Board for Senior High School in EB Magalona town, said.

Benitez wants Visayan
bloc to lead federalism campaign

If Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3 rd District) can have his own way, he would like the Visayan bloc to be the pioneering group to introduce and spearhead federalism in the country.

Benitez, who has joined the PDP-Laban political party of President –elect Rodrigo Duterte, said yesterday that he will take up during the Visayan bloc meeting his proposal for their political group to be the first one to introduce and campaign for federalism in the country.

Whether the mode is through a Constitutional Convention or a Constitutional Assembly, it is still being studied, said Benitez, who recently spoke with incoming House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez who told him that the priority of the Duterte administration is the shift to federalism. moremoremore

Surprise drug tests held
in NORPPO, 8 cop stations

Personnel of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office and eight police stations in the province were subjected to surprise drug tests, led by the Regional Crime Lab Office of Region 18, yesterday.

NORPPO acting director, Senior Supt. Harris Fama, was first to submit his sample urine when personnel of the Crime Lab, led by Supt. Lazaro Sumage and Chief Insp. Marco Donato Ponce de Leon, held the drug test at about 11 a.m. at the provincial police headquarters, a report furnished the Daily STAR showed.

Fama said the drug test is “very much welcome to check PNP personnel if they use illegal drugs. The activity will also show proof that the police are not drug users.”.moremoremore
