Case attack on Comelec
as an institution – Mavil

The allegations in a class suit filed by the supporters of Pamilya MKK are an attack on the Commission on Elections as an institution, Bacolod Election Officer Mavil Majarucon-Sia said yesterday.

Majarucon-Sia said she will ask for an extension of time to file her answer to the civil case lodged against the city Board of Canvassers led by her, which was raffled off to Regional Trial Court Branch 42 of Judge Fernando Elumba.

Other respondents are City Treasurer Giovanni, Lelanie Lory Bojos and Gerald John Joven also of the city BOC.

More file SOCEs to
beat deadline

Only 19 out of the 38 local candidates in Bacolod City have filed their Statements of Contributions and Expenditures as of press time yesterday, Bacolod Election Officer Majarucon-Sia said.

Majarucon-Sia said the filing of SOCE's will be up to 5 p.m. today and there will be no extension.

They will go over their documents to ensure there is compliance. If there are requirements that are lacking, that is the candidate's look out, she said. moremoremore

CA grants TRO vs. dismissal
of two Capitol dep't heads

The 15 th Division of the Court of Appeals has issued a 60-day temporary restraining order against the resolution of the Ombudsman to dismiss two provincial heads of Negros Oriental, pending the decision of the appeal they filed before the Commission on Audit.

Provincial Treasurer Danilo Mendez and Provincial Accountant Teodorico Reyes were ordered dismissed by Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales, for malversation and grave misconduct in connection with the controversial disbursement of the P480 million calamity fund of the province.

The two filed an urgent manifestation with reiterative motion for an issuance of a TRO and/or writ of preliminary injunction before the CA while waiting for the result of the motion for reconsideration they filed before the Ombudsman. moremoremore
