Chu tallies 38 pts as Rallye escapes Race in double OT

Carlo Chu sizzled with 38 points as Ultron Rallye squeaked past  Ultron Race in double overtime, 116-115, in the 35 and under division of the  Fil-Sino Petron Cup 2016 at Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.

In the second overtime, Ramon Khey hit a triple to put Ultron Race up by a point but Chu responded with a jumper for the winning basket.  Rallye escaped with a victory as another 3-point attempt from Khey failed to find its mark.

          Rallye had the chance to win in regulation but they failed to stop a fastbreak layup from Nico Lopingco who received a timely pass from Khey to force the first extra time with the score tied at 92- all.

          Khey anchored Race’s fourth quarter surge as he hit four triples.

It was Chu’s turn to take charge for Rallye in the first overtime as he scored the last nine points of his team while Race survived on Joel Masadia’s eight straight points and another Lopingco layup to force the second extra time at 104- all.

Chu had scoring support from Robbie Jalandoon who finished with 17 points while Shinley Uy added 15, Buddy Eufre delivered 14, Joshua Lao and Joshua Chua hit 8 points each, and and DK Equipaje chipped in 6 points.
Khey finished with  30 points for Race while Lopingco tallied 25 points, Masadia shot 20, Eugene Jalandoni with 21 points, Yap added 8 and  Tan with 6 points.

In the curtain raiser,  Sprint 4t Rider barged into the win column against Rev-X HD40, 73-65,  in the 35 and Up category.

Matt Deles consistently delivered for three quarters to finish with 26 points while Atong Villanueva scored 10 markers, Mark Binguan shot 9, Roger Montalbo and Bobil Alagaban scored 6 points apiece.

Glenn Tan paced HD40 with 18 points, Johnnyson Yu hit 11, Arvin Chua produced 10, John Montemayor dropped  9 points, and Oliver Manalto with 6 points.*
