Three residents of Moises Padilla town in Negros Occidental were shot dead Saturday in Sitio Macupa, Barangay Maglahos in Vallehermoso, Negros Oriental.
The police identified the victims as Jeric Ginanao, 32, single, Jujit Villa, 41, single, and Fungo Pasuguiron, married, legal age. The shooting incident transpired at around 6 a.m. Saturday.
Recovered at the crime scene were one deformed slug and one empty shell of a .45 caliber revolver, one bond paper with handwritten words “Pusher kami, ‘wag tularan”, and one heat-sealed plastic sachet with white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, the police report said.
Ginanao had a previous case in violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and he was also included in the drug watch-list, as confirmed by investigators of the Moises Padilla police station.
Vallehermoso police investigators are still conducting follow-up probe to determine the motive for the shooting and the assailants.
Meanwhile, more self-confessed drug users and pushers in Negros Oriental voluntarily surrendered to the Philippine National Police since July 1, in line with the PNP's Oplan TokHang campaign.
Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office records show that as of Friday, 8,677 “users” and 395 “pushers”, or 9,072 in all, have reported to the different police stations for profiling and documentation, Senior Supt. Carlos Lacuesta, deputy director for police operations, said.
The latest figures include Amlan, with 265 users, Ayungon, 218 users and 48 pushers; Bacong, 420/7; Bais City, 357/75; Basay, 63/6; Bayawan City, 302/25; Bindoy, 70/7; Canlaon City, 213/8; Dauin, 296/1; Dumaguete City, 560/57; Guihulngan City, 851/17; Jimalalud, 221/4; La Libertad, 334/12; Mabinay, 478/14; Manjuyod, 67/4; Pamplona, 200/13;
