Pole falls on vehicle,
causes brownouts

An electrical post of the Central Negros Electric Cooperative fell on a vehicle at Burgos Street beside SM City Bacolod at the Reclamation Area in Bacolod City, at about 6 p.m. causing a brownout in several areas in the city yesterday.

The areas affected were under the Reclamation Feeders number 1 to 4, Ceneco announced.

A heavy downpour yesterday is believed to have caused electric post to fall on a Mitshubishi Adventure vehicle, driven by Melfie Bautista, the police said.

Bautista was not injured but the vehicle sustained damages.

The brownout affected areas at the SM City Southwing, downtown area, Bacolod Real Estate Development Corporation port, South Capitol Road, North Drive, barangays 1 and Banago, and Araneta Street in Singcang.

Ceneco said the estimated time for power restoration was at 1 a.m. today.

Meanwhile, a fire caused by a lighted candle hit a house in Purok Kawayan, Barangay Banago, while the area was experiencing a brownout. The fire had not destroyed properties since it was immediately put out, the BFP said.*SGG
