CTO hires casual
plantilla officer
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

A possible replacement for resigned city tourism officer Woodrow Maquiling Jr. has been named but her appointment is yet to be announced by Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo.

Jackilyn Veloso Antonio was hired as casual plantilla employee starting July 18 and detailed at the City Tourism Office to help coordinate with all activities in the tourism office, especially the forthcoming fiesta celebration.

City Administrator Ricardo Gonzales said Antonio's office order will follow, attached of which are functions and responsibilities.

Maquiling tendered his irrevocable resignation following his promise to vacate the post in case his father, Woodrow Sr., will not make it in the mayoral race in Dumaguete.

Meanwhile, the contract of some job orders in the city government has been renewed up to August 15, 2016, pending the result of a review being conducted by a committee tasked to determine their qualifications, performance and necessity of their presence in certain offices and projects.

A review of casual plantilla employees will follow after August 15, Gonzales said.

Gonzales has worked with three mayors the past years. He was the city administrator of the late mayor and governor Agustin Perdices, absorbed by Mayor Felipe Remollo in 1999 for one term, then as city administrator in Bais City during the incumbency of Mayor Hector Villanueva, and this year as administrator under Remollo.

Remollo has formed a study group to find ways and means on how to ease traffic in the city with another meeting scheduled within the week or early next week.*JG
