Six winners of the Pasidungog sa Panguma during the Panaad sa Negros Festival are shortlisted for field evaluation in the Gawad Saka 2016 Search for Outstanding Achievers in Agriculture and Fisheries of the Department of Agriculture.
The Pasidungog winners, who were awarded in April, were earlier elevated to the Department of Agriculture-Negros Island regional entries in the national Gawad Saka Awards with other nominees from Negros Oriental.
The shortlisted entries are Jerry Dionson of Brgy. Tabunan, Bago (Outstanding Organic Agri. Farmer); Aurora Barredo of Brgy. 9, Victorias (Outstanding Agricultural Entrepreneur); Villareña Family of Brgy. Patag, Silay (Outstanding Farmer Family); Johnic De la Cruz of Brgy. San Pablo, Manapla (Outstanding Young Farmer);
Binubuhan Youth Organization of Bago (Outstanding Young Farmer/Fisherfolk Organization); Crisanto Umba of Brgy. Quezon, San Carlos (Outstanding Integrated Rice Farmer), and; Hda. Asuncion Taborda Rural Improvement Club of Brgy. Robles, La Castellana (Outstanding Rural Improvement Club).
The Negros entries will be evaluated by DA central office representatives on July 26 to August 12, and the winners of Gawad Saka 2016 will be awarded in October, Wendam also said.*KBC
