ENCLAVES Cup opens today

The Ayala Basketball Club will kick off its season today with the ENCLAVES Cup at the the Northpoint Clubhouse in Talisay City.

Newly-elected club president Gerard Benedicto said the opening rites will begin at 6 p.m. and will be followed by the first match of the tournament -- between Kenny Rogers/Black Mamba and Chicken Deli 888.

Kenny Rogers/Black Mamba, the defending champion, will look to continue its dominance as it will rely on mainstays Robby Jalando-on and Chac Mirano but will get plenty of support from new acquisitions like Luigino Lacson, Bren Tajonera, and Snook Versoza. Macky Puentevella, Marbin Go, Gerard Benedicto, Fredel Doromal, Bong Quinon, Reygin Oquiana, Errol Ledesma, Brian Puentevella, and Engr. Neilbert Alvarez.

Chicken Deli 888, on the other hand, is a tournament favorite with its tall frontline combination of Hans Schulze, Arjay Jamero, and Talisay Mayor Nilo Lizares.

Mark Jomalesa, Dante Ma, and Willy Dasal will take care of the backcourt chores as they will look to stamp their class in the five-team field.

Nikol Medina, Pepe Balladares, Steven Villanueva, Biboy Cunada, Christian Castro, Mark Carmona, Marlon Parreno and Adrian Cuaycong will comprise the remainder of the team.

ENCLAVES, the major sponsor, is the newest development project of the Ayala Group of Companies in Talisay. The tournament is a double round -robin format with the top four teams advancing to the semi finals, with the championship a best-of-three series. Games will be played every Monday and Thursday.*
