Drug surrenderees
hit 10,428 in NIR

More than 10,000 suspected drug pushers and users have already surrendered to the Police Regional Office 18, at its provincial and city police offices in Negros Island, within two weeks.

Of 10,428 self-confessed drug peddlers and users who surrendered since July 1, a total of 4,471 gave themselves up to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office – 5,734 and 583 to the Bacolod City Police Office, records show.

Senior Supt. William Señoron, provincial police director of Negros Occidental, said yesterday that 339 of the 4,471 surrenderees in the province alone are drug pushers.

PNP going after protectors

Chief Supt. Conrado Capa, regional police director of the Negros Island Region, yesterday called on Negrenses to trust him, in dealing with policemen alleged to be drug protectors.

“I will deal with these policemen. I will do something about it,” Capa said.

The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office is now finalizing the list of police officers allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade, and those using drugs, for submission to the PNP higher headquarters. moremoremore

Firm pushes gasification
to solve garbage problem

A French investor has offered to solve the garbage problem of Dumaguete City, using the latest technology available in the market.

The details of the Waste Processing and Gasification Plant Technology, as proposed by Vista Green Corporation, were presented to members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod recently, in the presence of Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo.

The facility will cost the company from P180 million to P360 million, but at no expense to the city government of Dumaguete, provided it is able to supply 200 to 300 tons of garbage daily..
