BY GILBERT BAYORAN

The long arm of the law finally caught up with Rene Lim, an alleged leader of an organized drug group operating in southern Negros, with his arrest yesterday by the police in Sitio Pasalan, Brgy. Caliling, Cauayan town.

Lim, who also ranked number one in the target list of drug personalities in Negros Occidental, has two pending arrest warrants for violation of Sections 5 and 11 of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Drug Act of 2002. No bail was recommended by Kabankalan Regional Trial Court Judge Rodney Magbanua, Chief Inspector Arnold Mesias, Cauayan police officer-in-charge, said yesterday.

Like thousands of self-confessed traders and users who surrendered to the authorities in Negros Occidental, Mesias said Lim fears for his life, following the pronouncement of President Rodrigo Duterte to neutralize all those engaged in the illegal drug trade. moremoremore

of officials linked to drugs
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

Senior Supt. Nestor Tiempo, the newly-assumed director of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office, will implement “Oplan Wagtang” to intensify further the campaign against illegal drugs.

In the turnover of command ceremony in Bacolod City yesterday, Tiempo said his action plan “Oplan Wagtang” means “Wagtangun natu ang mga criminals, wagtangun natu mga drug lords, wagtangun natu ang mga police scalawags (Let us eliminate criminals, drug lords and police scalawags).”

Tiempo said he has to be aligned with the directive of President Rodrigo Duterte in suppressing criminality and illegal drugs in three to six months. .
