Rallye tames Extra, 93-89, in Petron Cup

Ultron Rallye escaped Ultron Extra, 93-89, while Ultron Race cruised to its second victory holding off Ultron Touring, 80-73, in the 35 and below category of the Fil-Sino Petron Cup 2016 at Tay Tung High School Gym Wednesday night.

Sean Wee sizzled with 37 for Ultron Extra but his efforts were not enough to secure a win for his team as Carlo Chu led Rallye with 32 points.

Wee fired 15 points to lead Extra to a 20-all standoff in the opening quarter while Shinley Uy and Brix Arrobang combined for 14 points for Rallye.

Chu scored 12 points and Devin Dreyfus added 6 to push Rallye to a 40-36 lead at the break.

Brix Arrobang and Dreyfus combined for 18 points in the third quarter to extend the lead to 65-52 even as Luigi Coo fired 7 points for Extra.

Wee and Luigi Coo conspired for 30 points as Extra put in 37 points in the fourth quarter but, but their rally fell short as Rallye managed to protect their lead with Carlo Chu and Uy holding the fort with 15 and 9 points, respectively.

Backstopping Chu were Arrobang with 18 points, Uy added 17, and Robbie Jalandoon had 6 points.

Luigi Coo finished with 19 points for Extra, Bren Tajonera scored 10, Aaron Arroyo made 8 points and and Allen Dionela shot 6 points.

In the second game, Ultron Race posted a 49-27 halftime lead as Pao Pao Lim scored 15 points and Ramon Khey connected on 3 triples while Danty Ma and Jeremy Coo combined for 15 points for Touring.

Brian Coo spearheaded Touring's last ditch rally in the fourth quarter with 18 points but his mission failed to reverse the outcome of the game as Ultron Race clinched their second win in the tournament.

Ramon Khey knocked down 5 triples to finish with 21 points while Lim shot 19, Nico Lopingco picked up 15 points, Derick Sibug and Joel Masadia made 6 points each.

Brian Coo tallied 22 points for Touring as Ma added 16, Simon Tan produced 10, Jeremy Coo netted 9, and Chipeng Uy had 6 points.

Meanwhile, Rev-XHD40 drubbed Sprint 4t Rider, 70-54, in the 35 and above category

Richard Co paced HD40 with 22 points, Oliver Manaloto drilled in 13, Celhelm Uy shot 11, Arvin Chua scored 10 points, Francis Glenn Tan had 8, and Alvin Chua with 6 points.

Stone Ang led Rider with 15 points, Bobil Alagaban scored 12, Joemarie Regalado and Atong Villanueva shot 9 points apiece.*
