The Negros Occidental Provincial Veterinary Office has released 633 heads of farm animals to farmers and local government units under the Negros First Animal in June.
The local government of San Enrique, through the Municipal Agriculture Office, received 22 Peking ducks, while local Wilson Camporaso was given 300 layer chicks, animal dispersal coordinator Cathyrine Narez said.
From Sipalay City, Merceditas Montilla was given 9 Peking ducks, lawyer Maki Ascala with 200 layer chicks, Gerardo Ledesma with one ram, and Claude Schulz with 1 buck (goat), she said.
PVO also dispersed one buck to Ruel Catagena of Talisay City, Custodio Cabaluna of Murcia received 50 layer chicks, and Niel Panisales with one ram, she said.
Estanislao Caspantan at 22 Peking ducks through the Hinoba-an Municipal Agriculture Office, and local Leonardo Rafols was given 25 layer chicks.
Narez said the junior bull and rams will be used for cross-breeding with the cattle and sheep owned by the farmers, and will be returned after a year.
The poultry came from the Provincial Livestock Breeding Center and Dairy Farm, and the bull and rams from the Negros First ranch in Murcia and San Carlos.
The farmers will recompense the dispersed animals with one for every free range chicken given, and two for every Peking duck, she also said.*KBC
