Spanish forward Adrian Gallardo remains as the top scorer for Ceres-La Salle FC as he led the Bacolod City-based squad to an 11-0 win against Laos in the United Footbal League at Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila yesterday.
Gallardo converted a couple of penalties in the 41 st and 51 st minute then sent into the net three more successive goals to virtually shut down Laos. His marker in the 83 rd minute was his 6 th in the match and 18 th in the League this season.
With 18 goals under his name, Gallardo tops the list of the UFL scorers with brothers Phil and James Younghusband of Meralco Sparks at No. 2 and No. 3 with 14 and 13 goals, respectively.
Against Laos yesterday, Lee Jeong Woo opened the scoring for Ceres as headed home a cross from Patrick Reichelt in 11 th minute.
Laos buckled down to work and tried to keep pace with the Busmen but they were left staring at a 0-2 deficit after 25 minutes of play when Reichelt scored on a flick from Lee.
Gallardo took over four minutes before the end of the first half as he converted the penalty for his first goal to give Ceres a 3-0 lead.
Ceres proved to be too much for Laos as they dominated possession and registered 19 shots on target against Laos' 2. Ceres' also had 10 shots off targets while Laos only had one.
The Busmen also played more aggressively, incurring 19 fouls against 6 of Laos.
In addition to Gallardo's six goals and Lee and Reichelt's first half markers, other scorers for Ceres yesterday wer Carli De Murga (73rd), Oladipo Okunaiya (81 st ), and Stephan Shrock (90 th ).
Eduard Sacapano manned Ceres goal during the match.
The win was Ceres' 8 th in the tournament for 21 points after losing their first match to current leader Loyola. They are scheduled to play against Kaya FC on Sunday, 4 p.m., at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.*NAB
