Mayor buys 15 guns
for Guihulngan cops
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

G uihulngan Mayor Carlo Jorge Joan Reyes said he has provided the police in his city with enough logistics to fight all forms of criminality.

Reyes had earlier told the City Peace and Order Council that the police can only be affective in the anti-criminality campaign if they have the support of the community and the local government and that they must be well equipped.

Reyes purchased 15 M-4 baby Armalite rifles, complete with magazines and ammunition that are already issued to policemen with no long firearms. The funding came from the POC budget.

He said it's better to be prepared when highway robberies occur.

The city also provided the Guihulngan police with 22 XLR motorcycles for their mobility, to respond to emergencies even in the far flung barangays, and to run after riding-in-tandem snatchers.

Guihulngan City chief of police, Supt. D'Artagnan Katalbas Jr., said the local government unit is also planning to buy bullet-proof vests for the PNP.*JG
