Ceres-La Salle FC signed up former Spanish player Risto Vidakovic Savic as the new head coach of the team starting in the second round of the UFL League Cup.
Club director Nicolas Golez said Savic was in Bacolod City two days ago and went back to Manila yesterday. Golez did not provide information on how Savic's entry to the team will affect the role of former coaches Ali Go and Frank Muescan in the team.
The team's management also remains silent on the status of goalkeepers Michael Casas and Eduard Sacapano after the team signed up Filipino-German Roland Muller, who also plays for the Azkals.
The 47-year-old Savic will be bringing into the team his experience as coach of Honduras C.D. Motagua that played in the top division and considered as one of the most successful Honduran clubs.
Before joining C.D. Motagua, Savic mentored the Real Betis Balompie B, the reserve team that plays in the second division of the Spanish League in 2013-2014 seaon, and was head coach of Cadiz C.F, another Spanish club also playing in the second division, in 2012-2013 season.
Under his guidance, the C.D. Motagua qualified for the playoffs and won the league championship in just one year.
He also achieved the record of points in the history of Betis B in a whole season, and got the best start in the club history of Cadiz C.F. after 10 games in the championship.*NAB
