NORPPO holds anti-drugs summit

The Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office will hold its first anti-illegal drugs summit noon to 5 p.m. today at the Negros Oriental Convention Center in Dumaguete City.

The event is in cooperation with the Department of Interior and Local Government, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the provincial government.

The barangay captains of the province's 557 barangays and the chiefs of police are expected to join the activity, a NORPPO report said.

The police chiefs will invite their mayors to attend the summit, which is in line with the PNP Anti-Illegal Drugs Campaign Plan (Project Double Barrel).

Chief Supt. Conrado Capa, PNP regional director of the Negros Island Region or PRO-18, spearheads the activity along with acting NORPPO director, Senior Supt. Harris Fama, Gov. Roel Degamo and other law enforcement agencies.

During the summit, the list of suspected drug pushers are expected to be submitted after a workshop.*JFP
