A man believed to be in the drugs list was shot dead by two unidentified persons riding in tandem recently at the national highway in Barangay Mabigo, Canlaon City, Negros Oriental.
Crime scene investigators, led by acting chief of police, Supt. Frankie Lugo, reported that at 12:03 a.m. Sunday, victim Ronald Sarmiento, 34 years old, married, jobless and resident of Sitio Angas 2, Brgy Mabigo in Canlaon City was lying on the ground with blood oozing with gunshot wounds.
The police recovered five spent shells from 45 caliber revolver, one deformed slug at the crime scene. The police said the CDRMM Rescue Team brought the victim to the Canlaon District Hospital and was pronounced by the physician dead on arrival.
Investigator SPO1 Sabac found a coupon bond under the shirt of the victim with a note “drug pusher ako marami pa kami” and recovered one heat sealed sachet containing shabu and three disposable lighters also from the victim's body.
The police issued a flash alarm to PTOC to inform other stations to conduct check point operation for possible arrest and identification of the suspects.
Meanwhile, in Guihulngan City, on July 3 at 12:35 p.m., Guihulngan operatives led by Insp Eric Errol Besario conducted a buy-bust operation and arrested Johnray Mahilum, 28 years old, married, resident of Sitio Tuway,P.Zamora St., this city.
According to Amigo Cops Negros Or. Text Blast, the suspect was arrested in Pantalan, Pob. Guihulngan City after selling one piece heat sealed transparent plastic of suspected shabu granules to one of the operatives of the Guihulngan CPS who acted as poseur buyer in consideration of P500 marked money.
Inventory of confiscated items were photographed in the presence of the following witnesses: DOJ representative Welhelm Angeli Geogonia, elected brgy. official Kevin Maricampo and media representative Bobby Del Rosario at Guihulng City PS. Suspect is now detained at GCPS for inquest.*RG
