More teams are expected to join the Dynamic Football League 2016 2 nd Conference when the tournament opens on July 16 at the Sta. Maria Football Field in Talisay City.
Negros Occidental Football Association (NOFA) president and DFL chairman Ricky Yanson said it will be bigger competition with the inclusion of the men's open category.
Teams from different schools and football clubs in the province have confirmed their entries in the U11, U13, U16 girls, and U15 boys, Yanson said.
Now on its fourth year, the DFL competition has become a training ground
for young footballers in the province to develop their skills. Some of the DFL young stars went to represent the province and the region in the Palarong Pambansa.
Meanwhile, coaches and parents from the teams that will be joining the 2 nd Conference of the DFL attended an orientation and seminar Saturday at Planta Hotel in Bacolod City.
Sports Psychologist Francis Santamaria discussed with the participants the importance of nurturing the talent and interest of their children in sports while allowing them to have fun and enjoy the game.
Yanson said the seminar was organized in recognition of the important role the parents play in the development of their children as an athlete.
“We decidedto have this seminar to further improve the competition. Aside from the development of the players, we also need to widen the perspective of the coaches and parents,” Yanson said.
Aside from the grassroots development of football in the province, NOFA has also established its coaches' training and licensing program.
Yanson said NOFA is also ready to host any national or international tournament, such as the Suzuki Cup, although nothing has been scheduled yet.*NAB
