Ultron Rallye dominated Ultron Race in the second quarter en route to an 85-67 opening day victory in the Fil-Sino Petron Cup 2016 played Monday night at Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.
In the other match-up, Ultron Extra squeaked past Ultron Touring, 79-76, in the 35- and- below category.
Stepping on the gas in the second quarter, Rallye turned a 12-10 opening quarter deficit to a 49-33 advantage by halftime as Carlo Chu scored 13 points with teammates Robbie Jalandoon and Devin Dreygus adding 6 points each.
Ultron Race responded with 14 points from Nico Lopingco and a combined 18-point output from RJ Iligan and Derek Sibug but their efforts were not enough to overhaul the lead as Jalandoon, Chu and Buddy Eufre conspired for 30 points to complete the victory for Rallye.
Chu paced Ultron Rallye with 23 points while Jalandoon added 19, Joshua Chua delivered 8 markers and Devin Dreyfus and Brix Arrobang hit 6 points apiece.
Ultron Race was led by RJ Iligan with 18 points, Jason Yap shot 10, Derek Sibug, Eugene Jalandoni , and Ramon Khey with 4 points each.
In the second game, Ultron Extra held a slim 17-16 opening quarter advantage over Ultron Touring led by Sean Wee and Kerwin Guillon with a combined 11 points against Brian Coo and Joshua Co's 7 points each for Touring.
Extra enjoyed a 44-34 halftime lead as Allen Dionela fired 3 triples and Luigi Coo hit 10 points even as Alvin Dionela and Danty Ma scored 6 points each for the other team..
Alvin Dionela continued to sizzle for Touring in the third quarter as he combined with Jeremy Coo for 16 points but Extra remained on top at 64-55 going to the fourth quarter.
Touring wrestle the lead at 72-71 as Joshua Co and Alvin Dionela led a rally but Wee answered with a triple and Allen Dionela scored on a jumper as Ultron Extra never looked back and sealed the win with their free throws.
Allen Dionela and Wee delivered 8 triples between them as they led Extra scorers with 21 and 15 points respectively. Luigi Coo added 16 points, Guillon with 7, and Bren Tajonera hit 6 points.
Alvin Dionela drilled 20 points in a losing effort backstopped by Joshua Co with 13 points, Brian Coo added 12, Jeremy Coo with 11, and Ma with 10 points.*
