PUJ fare cut soon,
hearings tomorrow
BY CARLA GOMEZ

The Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board may impose a 50 centavo cut in fare rates of public utility jeepneys in Western Visayas and Negros Occidental before February, LTFRB Regional Director Romulo Bernardes said yesterday.

Bernardes said there is no more opposition from transport groups following the series of fuel rate cuts.

The fare cut can be implemented soon if he is given authority by the board, he said.

He said public hearings on the fare cut are set tomorrow in Bacolod City in the morning and in Iloilo in the afternoon.

Although Negros Occidental is now part of the Negros Island Region, Bernardes said the LTFRB in the province is still under him.*CPG
