The Police Regional Office 18 will soon give a quota for each police chief to account for in drug personalities in their respective areas in Negros Island.
Chief Supt. Conrado Capa, Negros Island police regional director, said yesterday that they are now planning to involve local government units, in the neutralization of drug personalities.
“They will have their own targets to accomplish in a certain period of time,” Capa said.
While he expressed satisfaction in the ongoing anti-drug campaign of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) and Bacolod City, Capa wants a higher level campaign that is up to the regional level.
The anti-drug campaign of almost two weeks of the NOCPPO has already led to the arrest of 25 suspects engaged in drug peddling activities, and the recovery of more than P500,000 worth of prohibited drugs.
Capa also reiterated his warning against police officers who may be involved in the illegal drug trade
Three policemen assigned at the San Carlos City Police Station recently tested positive for drug use.
“They have to stop it, or else they will be dismissed from the service,” Capa said.
Another policeman assigned at the Bacolod City Police Office is facing an administrative case of grave misconduct.
Capa also shared the assessment of Deputy Director General Marcelo Garbo, Deputy Chief for Administration, that majority of the police offenders have ranks of Police Officers 1 and 2.
Garbo is urging police chiefs to spend time in dialogs with their subordinates.
He also said they need to guide neophyte police officers, through constant communication.
But if they decide to be bad cops, they have to suffer the consequences of their action, he said.*GPB
