Comelec releases list
of bets for validation

Provincial Election Supervisor Jessie Suarez yesterday called on all Negros Occidental bets to check the recently posted Commission on Elections list of local candidates for verification.

The list of local candidates is posted in the Comelec website at http://www.comelec.gov.ph , Suarez said.

Candidates can check the list to determine if their proper names have been posted and their number on the ballot, or seek clarification from the election officers in the areas where they are running for office, he said. moremoremore

Transport groups agree
to fare cut: LTFRB

Transport groups have agreed to reduce the fare rates in public utility jeepneys in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental, Regional Director Romulo Bernardes of Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board-Western Visayas said.

This was after consultation was held yesterday and some disagreed with the fare cutback at first, everyone eventually agreed on the decision, Bernardes said.

LTFRB is pushing for a P1 decrease while the transport sector says P.50 will be enough, he said. moremoremore

Dumaguete prelate supports
PNP election peace covenant

Bishop Julito Cortes of the Diocese of Dumaguete has expressed his support to the proposed signing of a peace covenant by political candidates running for various elective posts in the May 9 synchronized polls.

He gave his assurance of support to Chief Supt. Conrado Capa, officer-in-charge of the Negros Island Police Regional Office, who paid a courtesy call on Cortes Tuesday morning at the latter's residence in Dumaguete City, after his visit to the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office, for the activation of the Provincial Joint Security Coordinating Council.
