BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

Sabotage!

This is how Bacolod Councilor Claudio Puentevella considers the move of acting Mayor Greg Gasataya in seeking the dismissal of the new real property tax ordinance being pushed by the Puentevella administration.

Puentevella, chairman of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Finance, yesterday said he has not yet received a copy of the court decision but will study the legal remedies available to them.

The Bacolod Regional Trial Court Branch 44 ordered the dismissal of the petition filed by the City of Bacolod represented by Mayor Monico Puentevella, et. al., in the civil case filed against them by Proxima Centauri Realty and Development Corp. and the Bacolod Real Estate Development Corp., involving the implementation of the new real property tax ordinance, for lack of interest.moremoremore

‘City gov't can find
BacoLaodiat funds'
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

If the acting administration can provide funds for the fisherfolk of Bacolod City that have been affected by red tide, it should also find a budget for the BacoLaodiat Festival, Bacolod Councilor Claudio Puentevella said yesterday.

Puentevella, chairman of the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Finance, said the BacoLaodiat Festival slated February 5 to 7 requires a small amount of funds.

If the acting administration can provide financial assistance of P2,000 to P3,000 for each affected fisherfolk, there is no question that the city has a budget, he said. moremoremore

Bishop hoping for solutions
to series of killings in NegOr
BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

Bishop Julito Cortes of the Diocese of Dumaguete has expressed hope there will be solutions to the series of killings in Dumaguete City and in the province of Negros Oriental despite what he describes as a “desensitized” community.

He reminded the people to value and respect human life, regardless of the nature of a person.

Many people appear to not care about the killings in the recent past, majority of which were attributed to the drug problem, he said.moremoremore
