The crime volume in Negros Occidental posted a drop of 15.4 percent last year, compared to 2014, police records show.
Records of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office indicated that total crime volume reported last year was 26,035,compared to 30,803 in 2014, registering a 15.4 percent reduction.
Of the total crime volume last year, 14,721 had been reported to the Philippine National Police; 11,094 reported to the barangay, and 220 to other law enforcement agencies.
Crime incidents in Bacolod City also reduced by 33.8 percent in the same period.
Incidents of theft and physical injuries in Negros Occidental, except Bacolod City, topped the list of index crimes committed in 2015, with 2,408 and 1519, respectively, followed by robbery – 802, rape -284, murder -243, carnapping -169, homicide -88 and 46 for cattle rustling.
Compared to 2014, however, there was a reduction of incidents of physical injuries, theft, robbery, cattle rustling and homicide, while a slight increase in murder and rape incidents have been noted, NOPPO records also showed. * GPB
