The UNO-Recoletos' athletics team accounted for seven out of the nine gold medals the NOPSSCEA delegation secured yesterday in Regional PRISAA Meet at the Villareal Stadium in Roxas City.
Fourth year Crimiology student Devy Isada won two gold medals for NOPSSCEA as she reigned in women's shot put and discus throw, while South East Asian Youth Athletics Championships gold medalist and Asian Youth Games bronze medalist Jose Jerry Belibestre ruled the men's long jump and grabbed a silver in the 100-meter dash.
Joining them in the list of gold medal honorees after Day 1 were fellow Uno-Rians Alexis Soqueño, Romerose Villanueva, Francis John Escora, and Arlyn Saul
Soqueño, a silver medalist in SEA Youth Games, won the gold in men's 110m hurdles, while Villanueva topped the women's long jump and Saul, the women's triple jump.
Completing the nine gold medal haul of the Erol Cosas-mentored NOPSSCEA athletics team were Gilbert Dave Pamplona in men's shot put, and Justine Jay Ticao in men's 10K walk.
Winning a silver medal for NOPSSCEA were Katrina Irish Isiderio and Krizza Zulueta, who placed second in women's and girls' 100 meters, respectively, Jaden Gil Rivera and Mary Therese Gula in secondary boys' and girls' 800 meters.
Jelyn Duran settled for the bronze in women's 800 meters.*NAB
