Summer tourists pick up

Tourists are taking advatage of the midweek holiday to visit summer destinations, and break work routines, Bebe Soberano, of the Sagay City Information and Tourism, said yesterday.

Soberano said that, as early as this month, tourists are already placing reservations for Carbin Reef, one of Sagay's tourist destinations.

Yesterday, more than 35 visited the sand strip, she said, adding that more tourists spend time at the Sagay sand sea during weekends. The tourism officers limit the daily number of visitors to 100 in order to preserve the area which is a marine sanctuary.

“Most of the tourists who visited this week are families and teachers in the city and nearby towns,” she said.

For P1,800, a group of six can rent a boat to and from Carbin Reef, and this is inclusive of entrance, port and environmental fees, Soberano said.

Meanwhile, groups of 10 and below may rent a boat to the reef at P1,200, and a group of 11 to 15 at P1,500.

She added that senior citizens and children's fees are lifted except for the port fee of P10. Visitors may also rent single and double sheds at P300 and P500, respectively.*KBC
