Peso slightly up vs. dollar

MANILA- - The Philippine peso ended yesterday sideways against the greenback even on back of higher inflation rate in the US.

It finished the trade at 47.60 from 47.66 Friday last week.

Rate of price increases in the US surpassed expectations after hitting 1.4 percent in January 2016 due to faster increases of medical cost, and rents.

A trader said this made investors a bit bullish earlier in the trading on hopes that another hike in the Federal Reserve rate is in the offing in a few weeks.
