Melfren stuns Toby's
to tie Blitz on top

Melfren/NEPROAC stunned defending champion Toby's, 94-87, to clinch their second win and share the lead in the team standing with Blitz in the 2016 D-League First Conference Basketball Tournament at the STI-West Negros University gym.

Jorge delos Reyes fired 15 points, 7 of them in the fourth quarter, to spearhead the well-balanced Melfren offense as Van Rodriguez added 14 markers while John Chua chipped in 13, Lov Noymay with 11 points, Fern Noymay added 9, and Decema, Lim and Mark Palada with 6 points each.

Allan Jaena topscored for Toby's with 24 points, 14 points of them in the in the final quarter as Ryan Locsin and Bourne Sioquim hit 20 and 19 points, respectively. Marvin Tan hit 13 points.

In the other match-up, Kevin Ramos sizzled for 20 points to lift Hardy.Com/Shakey's to a 77-66 victory over RMM Emcore.

Ramos got scoring support from teammate Barlaj Sekhon, who scored 12 points, while JR Bastoadded 11, Jayson Yap with 10 points, and Steve Aguirre and Yu with 9 points each.

Shem Claridad led RMM Emcore with 14 points as Hubert Nusog and Jed Norico added 10 points each.

Freddie Rabacal, meantime, fired 15 points to anchor 11 Degrees to their first win in a low scoring game against Wesnecan, 57-50, as Mark Jimenez added 10 points while Anni Tecson and Romero have 10 points apiece for the losing side.*
