French ambassador joining
Cadiz solar farm inauguration

French Ambassador to the Philippines and to Micronesia, Thierry Mathou, will join the inauguration of the French company-built solar farm in Cadiz City on March 3.

Mathou yesterday said that he will join the formal opening of the P10-billion solar farm built by Soleq.

The Cadiz facility that is the biggest solar farm in South East Asia and the seventh largest in the world is already feeding power to the Visayas grid, Cadiz Mayor Patrick Escalante said earlier.

The 176-hectares solar farm, located in Barangay Tinampaan, Cadiz City, aims to produce 132 megawatts of power.

The solar farm that generated 2,500 jobs during its construction stage is expected to hire about 250 employees for its operations, Escalante said.

The French ambassador said he talked to Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. about bringing in more French firms to the province.

I told him that after solar energy, I will also bring to Negros Occidental more French companies dealing with agribusiness, he said.*KBC
