The newest member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Katrina Ramas-Uypitching Lim, took her oath of office recently, following an appointment from Malacañang.
Lim replaced her husband, the late Board Member Clayborne Clyde Lim of the Liberal Party, who died October 17, Vice Governor Edward Mark Macias said.
Under the law, a board member's appointment as replacement to the person who caused the vacancy shall be signed by the President, Macias said, adding the replacement is determined through a nomination by the political party of the person who caused the vacancy.
Her appointment was signed by President Benigno Aquino III January 22, 2016, but she had received it weeks later, Macias said.
Lim took her oath before Judge Katrina Gonzales Pasikaran of the Municipal Trial Court of Bindoy, in the presence of LP provincial chair Jocelyn Limkaichong, Macias, other LP members and incumbent BMs, and Rep. George Arnaiz (Nationalist People's Coalition), who is running for governor in the May 9 elections, under the LP-NPC coalition.
Macias said Lim will be serving only until the end of the term of her late husband.
Nick Lim, the uncle of the late BM, has replaced the latter for the same position in the May election, Macias said.*PNA
