An upbeat Mar Roxas appealed to mostly yellow-clad cheering hometown crowds at rallies in Negros Occidental yesterday to vote for his running mate Rep. Leni Robredo (Camarines Sur, 3 rd District) and his senatorial slate who, he said, are committed to continuing the Daang Matuwid (Straight Path).
The Liberal Party slate drew a crowd of 5,000 at the Silay City plaza yesterday morning, 8,000 at the coliseum in Bago, the hometown of Roxas' mother Judy Araneta Roxas, and 5,000 in the afternoon in Bacolod City.
Opposing candidates in Bacolod City and their supporters in red and yellow uniforms joined the grand rally of the Liberal Party at the Paglaum Sports Stadium in Bacolod City yesterday.
Supporters of Grupo Progreso led by Bacolod Rep. Evelio Leonardia, who came in red shirts, and those of MKK Partido Bacolod led by Mayor Monico Puentevella, who wore yellow and blue shirts, cheered every time their leaders were acknowledged by LP candidates during the political rally.
Senator Franklin Drilon yesterday pledged to help make Bacolod as progressive and beautiful like what he did in Iloilo City if he will be re-elected and if Mar Roxas and Leni Robredo, Liberal Party presidential and vice presidential candidates, respectively, will be elected.
