The Rodrigo Duterte-Alan Peter Cayetano and Mar Roxas-Leni Robredo camps kicked off their official campaigns in vote-rich Negros Occidental with separate events in Bacolod City, yesterday.
Roxas and his team are expected in Negros Occidental on February 16, and Duterte on February 17.
Supporters of presidential aspirants Grace Poe and Jejomar Binay said their candidates will be in Negros Occidental next month. There was no word when Senator Miriam Santiago, who is also running for president, will visit the province.
Rafael Coscolluela, provincial chairman of the Friends of Mar-Leni in Negros Occidental, yesterday said the prohibitive cost of campaigns will discourage deserving candidates from running for national posts.
Coscolluela said an electoral reform law is needed in order to level the playing field, otherwise only those with resources will be able to win national posts.

DTI's Angeline Gonzalez, however, clarified that the provincial FDA, headed by Vicky Sibala, is the lead agency to look into the incident.
