BY CARLA GOMEZ

Rafael Coscolluela, provincial chairman of the Friends of Mar-Leni in Negros Occidental, yesterday said the prohibitive cost of campaigns will discourage deserving candidates from running for national posts.

The Department of Trade and Industry in Negros Oriental has assured it will provide assistance to the local Food and Drugs Administration on the discovery of a “foreign object” in a sachet of processed pork and beans.

DTI's Angeline Gonzalez, however, clarified that the provincial FDA, headed by Vicky Sibala, is the lead agency to look into the incident.

The matter has already been reported to the FDA while the distributor of the branded pork and beans has attempted to reach the complainant, Gonzalez said. moremoremore
