Lt. Col. Rey Tiongson, Army's 3rd Infantry Division spokesman, said that the Philippine Army and PNP will remain vigilant to ensure the free, orderly, honest, peaceful conduct of the 2016 elections.
Senior Supt. William Señoron, officer-in-charge of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, said their preparations for the synchronized elections have long been implemented, including the conduct of checkpoints, in coordination with the Philippine Army and the Commission on Election.

Suspect in murder of couple,
granddaughter, nabbed: PNP
The suspect in the murder of an elderly couple and their 15-year-old granddaughter in Canlaon City, Negros Oriental, over the weekend, was nabbed at about 9 last night in Sitio Borlad, Barangay Quezon in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.
A police report forwarded to the DAILY STAR by correspondent Judy Partlow identified the suspect as R obert Montano, alias Jay-R, who has been arrested after a massive manhunt operation.
