3 treasure hunters die

The search for alleged treasure claimed the lives of three hunters, who reportedly died of suffocation on Saturday in Sitio Bugtong, Brgy. Tan-awan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.

The victims identified as Danilo Nabas, 42, his two younger brothers, Rolando, 40, and Reynante, 33, were found unconscious at the 20-foot deep hole

But they were declared dead on arrival at a hospital, police said.moremoremore

‘beating' video goes viral


A security guard was terminated from his post Saturday after a video showing him kicking and hitting a mentally ill woman with a bamboo stick in front of the Negros Occidental Capitol in Bacolod City posted on social media drew angry comments from netizens.

The video posted on the Facebook account “Gugma Pa More” Friday had drawn 210,798 views and 346 comments as of midnight yesterday.

The security guard, identified as Rolly Agasang of Pax Security Agency, who had been assigned at the Capitol for about 12 years has been relieved from his post, Vinchito Magalona, security-in charge at the Capitol, said yesterday.moremoremore

sign peace covenant

Only about half of the number of political candidates seeking election in May for various elective positions in Dumaguete City appeared Saturday for the signing of the peace covenant, city election officer Gildu Agoncillo said.

Two candidates for mayor, Mercedario Generoso and Quirino Ramirez, were present while the two other candidates, incumbent Vice Mayor Woodrow Maquiling Sr. and Felipe Antonio Remollo were not around, Agoncillo said.

Remollo was represented by his cousin, incumbent Councilor Antonio Remollo, he added.moremoremore
