Livestock and poultry damages due to the continuing dry spell has reached P3,158,243 in Negros Occidental with P224,375 worth of losses added last week, the Provincial Veterinary Office reported.
Six barangays in Calatrava town reported a total of P153,930 losses in goat, carabao, cattle, swine and free range chicken.
Manapla town accounted for P22,475 in damages in Peking duck and swine that affected two barangays. EB Magalona reported mortality in goats worth P9,600.
Hinobaan town reported damages in swine and goat worth P10,560, Pontevedra at P9,840 swine and free range chicken losses, and Silay City reported P7,070 swine and free range chicken deaths.
As of Feb. 5, PVO has reported 31 cities and towns affected by the continuing drought.
Kabankalan City led with losses valued at P430,239, followed by Calatrava town that recorded a total of P301,910.
A total of P1,342,551 swine losses in 17 towns and cities were reported, with Kabankalan City and Valladolid accounting losses more than P200,000 each.
Losses in the free range chicken industry reached P298,040, with 18 towns and cities affected topped by Bago City that lost P78,420.
Carabao losses amounting to P387,400 have affected six LGUs, damages to herds of goats have reached P204,040 in seven towns and cities.*KBC
