Comelec to reshuffle
poll officers in NegOr
BY RENE GENOVE

The Commission on Elections in Negros Oriental will reshuffle all its election officers in March to prevent partisanship, and they will be re-assigned in other places for the May 9, 2016 polls.

Dumaguete City Election Officer Gildu Agoncillo said the reshuffling aims to erase doubts of partisanship since officials who have been assigned in a particular place for a long time may favor a certain candidate.

He said the reassignment is part of the efforts of the Comelec to maintain its credibility.

Dumaguete Councilor Dan Leon said dog bites in the city are alarming.

In the session of the Sangguniang Panlungsod recently, Leon showed a statistics of dog bites for 2015 from the Animal Bite Center. He said that in summary, the data showed 1,005 cases of dog bites in Dumaguete.

The report excluded those persons who met an accident due to stray dogs. He said he is hoping the SP, especially the Committee on Finance and Appropriation, will help him appropriate funds for the ordinance that provides for the establishment of mobile holding pen for dogs so that this will be implemented to address the problem on stray dogs.
