Ma saves 4-year-old from fire
BY SHIELA GELERA

A mother saved her 4-year-old child from fire that hit their house in Purok Malipayon, Barangay 35 in Bacolod City, yesterday.

Elen Mae Atindan, who was crying while tightly holding her son, said she did not know that their house was on fire, until she saw smoke billowing in their room at the second floor.

Atindan said she carried the boy while shouting for help, but no one heard them, so she ran out of the house.

The fire destroyed two houses and damaged one more in the barangay, Bureau of Fire Protection records show.

About P80,000 worth of properties were destroyed by the fire that lasted for more than 15 minutes, records show.

Investigation showed that the fire started at the second floor of the house owned by Nenen Mondejar, and spread to nearby houses made of light materials, the BFP said.

No injuries or casualties were reported, records show.

The fire survivors are asking for help since all their belongings were lost in fire.

During the weekend, seven houses were hit by fire in the cities of San Carlos and Bago, Negros Occidental, and a total of P1.2 million worth of properties destroyed.

The BFP is again reminding the public to observe fire prevention, every day to avoid fire incidents and the destruction of more properties.*SGG
