A known personality for oceans conservation, Alexandra Cousteau, will visit Dumaguete City and Negros Oriental Friday, and will share her environmental expertise and influence to promote and protect the health of oceans, Danny Ocampo, campaign director of Oceana, said.
Cousteau is senior adviser of Oceana, an international non-government organization working “for the conservation and protection of our oceans and restoring the abundance of our fisheries resources,” he said.
She will deliver a talk on “Save the Oceans, Feed the World” on Friday at the Silliman University Multi-Media Audiovisual Amphitheater in Dumaguete City.
On Saturday, Cousteau will visit the world famous dive destination, Apo Island, in Dauin, Negros Oriental. She will meet with community members and other agencies to see how a well-managed marine protected area like Apo Island is and how it can be pushed to other areas where Oceana works in.
Cousteau is a National Geographic emerging explorer, filmmaker and globally recognized advocate on water issues.*JFP
