1 found dead in Bacolod

A man was found dead in Purok San Roque, Barangay Tangub in Bacolod City, at about 4:50 p.m. Thursday.

Gavino Canonigo Jr., 55, of Purok Roadside in the barangay, was found already lifeless by his 22-year-old son, whose name was not disclosed.

The body of Canonigo was brought to the St. Peter Funeral Homes in Barangay Alijis, Bacolod, police records show.

The police said the body will be subjected to an autopsy to determine the real cause of his death.

Meanwhile, a man, who was watching an event at the Bacolod Arts Youth and Sports Center at San Juan Street in Barangay 12, Bacolod, was served a warrant of arrest, Thursday.

Neil Alvaran, 39, of Barangay 29 in Bacolod, had a pending warrant of arrest for contempt of court charges, a police report said.

Alvaran was at the BAYS Center to see Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa.

The arrest warrant of Alvaran was issued by Bacolod Regional Trial Court, Branch 52 Judge Raymond Joseph Javier, police records show.

Alvaran is now detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 1.*SGG
