new PRO18 director told

Keep up the war against drugs.

That was the marching order of Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. to Chief Supt. Renato Gumban yesterday who will assume as director of the Philippine National Police Negros Island Region at rites set in Bacolod City today.

About 1,500 persons involved in illegal drugs in Bacolod City are expected to gather at the BAYS Center today for an orientation on the anti-drug campaign of the Duterte administration and the various rehabilitation programs they may avail of from the government.

The event called Ang Pagtipon Para sa Pagbag-o (A Gathering for Change) will start at 8 a.m. and run until 12 noon.

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia yesterday said they have invited these drug users and pushers, who have surrendered to authorities, because they will be presented the drug rehabilitation program of the city. moremoremore

CIDG confiscates ‘shabu'
in Dumaguete operation

An anti-illegal drugs operation in Dumaguete City yesterday morning yielded positive results but the subject of the search could not be found, except for another person who was in the house but also managed to escape later.

Elements of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, headed by Chief Insp. Julius Garcia, searched the house of Dodong Merced in Purok Mansanitas, Sitio Canday-ong, Calindagan in Dumaguete early yesterday and recovered assorted illegal drugs paraphernalia.

Recovered by CIDG elements, in cooperation with members of the Special Weapons and Tactics of the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office, led by Senior Insp. Efren Moldez, are nine elongated plastic sachets believed to contain shabu, one big sachet and four medium-sized sachets with residues, five empty sachets with residues, assorted lighters, three improvised tooters, blades, pairs of scissors, tinfoil, an improvised paper clip, cell phone, P890 in cash, and a homemade 22 caliber magnum revolver. .
