Chief Supt. Renato Gumban is the new regional police director of the Negros Island Region.

Supt. Moises Villaceran, Police Regional Office 18 Community Relations Division chief, yesterday said that PNP chief Director General Ronald Dela Rosa will install Chief Supt. Gumban as the incoming PRO 18 director, in a ceremony to be held Thursday at the Pavillon Hotel in Bacolod City.

Gumban, a native of Iloilo, will replace Chief Supt. Conrado Capa, who is bowing out from the police service four days ahead of his retirement on Aug. 29. moremoremore

PNP chief Ronald “Bato” de la Rosa will lead the conferment of awards to outstanding police officers, local government officials of Negros Island Region, including Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. Thursday in Bacolod City, in line with the 115th Police Service Day.

With the theme “Hamon ng Pagbabago, Pinag-ibayong Serbisyo”, the activity aims to honor police commissioned and non-police commissioned officers, local government executives, among others, who have contributed much to the delivery of basic public safety services to Negrenses.

AT SILLIMAN
60-kW solar operational

The first 60 kilowatts (kW) of solar power is now operational in Silliman University in Dumaguete City, particularly energizing the Luce Auditorium building, after a switch-on ceremony yesterday, attended by officials of SU and the First Solar Orion Energy Solutions that provided the materials for free.

Next to be energized is the 90-kilowatt solar panel installed at the rooftop of the Silliman Library, and the 13 other buildings of the university before the year ends.

In a year's time, the whole system will generate for Silliman about 1.68 million kilowatt hours. . .
