Robbie Jalando-on and Richard Co were crowned 3- point kings after dominating the 3-point shootout of the Fil-Sino Petron Cup Monday night at the Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gym.
Jalando-on ruled the contest in the 34 and below category as he earned 11 points in the final round, outscoring Jeremy Coo and Andy Tio, who tallied 7 points apiece.
Consistent throughout the competition, Jalandoon topped the elimination round with 12 points, same with RJ Iligan.
In the semifinals, he nailed 11 points to advance to the finals with Coo and Tio making 9 and 8 points, respectively.
Meanwhile, Richard Co had to go through the eye of the needle to win in the 35 and above category.
An early favorite, Co topped the elimination round with 12 points but faltered in the semifinals as his 7 points put him at No. 4 behind Stephen Tan's 8 points, Beboy Yap's 10, and Ralph Richard Tan, who topped the round with 11 points.
But Stephen Tan was caught stepping when hitting the money ball and got a deduction of 2 points, allowing Co to secure the third slot in the final.
Co and Ralph Tan scored 10 points to qualify for another shootout, while Yap bowed out with 9 points.
Co regained his steady shooting in time as connected for a tournament record of 13 points against the 6 points of Tan to win the title.*
