Fifty members of the United Negros Alliance led by Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. submitted their applications for membership in the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan chaired by President Rodrigo Duterte yesterday, PDP Laban Negros Island Region secretary general Yves Akol said last night.

More UNegA members are also expected to submit their applications today until August 23, with a mass oathtaking in Bacolod expected to be led by the president on September 17, Akol said.

Also among the 50 who submitted their application forms were Board Members Salvador Escalante and Samson Mirhan of the 2 nd District, Sagay City Mayor Alfredo Marañon III, Cadiz City Mayor Patrick Escalante, Hinobaan Mayor Ernesto Estrao, Manapla Mayor Lourdes Escalante, Toboso Mayor Richard Jaojoco, Sagay Vice Mayor Narciso Javelosa, and Hinobaan Vice Mayor Jefre Encoy, he added. moremoremore

LGUs help sought
for NIR budget

Negros Occidental Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. and Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo are proposing that local government units in the Negros Island Region set aside a portion of their budgets to help NIR's operations in 2017, Murcia Vice Mayor Victor Gerardo Rojas said yesterday.

The governor informed the members of the Vice Mayors League of the Philippines-Negros Occidental Chapter of this proposal during their courtesy call on him at the Capitol in Bacolod City yesterday, Rojas, who is VMLP-Neg. Occ. president, said.

The Negros officials have been informed that the NIR funds for next year will not be included in the 2017 national budget. moremoremore

Soldiers from NegOr deployed
in Mindanao against terrorists

The 11 th  infantry Battalion of the 3 rd  Infantry Division of the Philippine Army was pulled out from Negros Oriental and redeployed in Mindanao as part of a peace mission, 3 rd ID commanding officer, Maj. Gen. Harold Cabreros, said.

In his message during the send-off ceremony Saturday in front of the Capitol grounds in Dumaguete City, Cabreros said the commander-in-chief, President Rodrigo Duterte, has called for the services of five battalions from various divisions, including the 11 th  IB, to the war-torn Mindanao in order to bring peace for the people and the country.

The marching order of the soldiers is to finish the problem of terrorism in Mindanao .
