Drug suspect shot, killed in EB Magalona

An alleged drug personality was shot and killed yesterday by an unidentified gunman at Rufo Yorac Street in Brgy. 2 Poblacion, EB Magalona, Negros Occidental.

Senior Inspector Bonifacio Aral, EB Magalona police chief, yesterday said the victim he identified as  Robert Frias, 37, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds.

Aral said Frias, who ranked number two in the EB Magalona police top 10 street local target drugs personalities, was declared dead on arrival at the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City.

Investigations of the EB Magalona police showed that Frias was standing in front of a store when he was shot three times from behind by the gunman.

The gunman, who casually walked away from the crime scene, later boarded a motorcycle, and  fled towards the  south.

EB Magalona policemen, who responded to the shooting incident, recovered two empty shells and two slugs of a .45 caliber pistol.

Aral said they had visited the house of Frias, in line with their Oplan Tokhang campaign. But Frias was nowhere to be found, at the time.

The shooting incident was witnessed by the wife of the victim, who initially described the gunman to the police as wearing a “bandana” on his head.

The motive of the shooting  is still being determined  by the EB Magalona police.

Meanwhile, two sachets of suspected shabu were recovered by the police from aan rrested theft suspect yesterday in Sitio Bucay, Brgy. 2, Ilog town.

The suspect identified as Alejandro Samillano was arrested by the Ilog police for stealing milkfish, or bangus, from the fishpond of Vicente Villalva in the place.

When he was subjected to body search at the Ilog police station, the police recovered two sachets of suspected shabu from his possession.

Samillano was reported by the Ilog police to have surrendered before under its Oplan Tokhang campaign.*GPB
