Church no power broker,
healing needed – Buzon
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Bacolod Bishop Patricio Buzon yesterday stressed that the Church is not a power broker, it is in its powerlessness that it becomes more credible and effective in fulfilling its mission of evangelization.

Buzon delivered the homily at the mass after he was installed as the 6 th bishop of the Diocese of Bacolod by Archbishop Socrates Villegas, Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines president, at the San Sebastian Cathedral in Bacolod City yesterday morning.

Twenty-nine bishops, including Bishop Emeritus Vicente Navarra, the papal nuncio's representative Msgr. Arnaldo Catalan, 300 priests, and a crowd of 1,500, joined Buzon at his installation rites. moremoremore

DA distributes farm
equipment in NegOr
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

Farm machineries worth millions of pesos were distributed yesterday by Secretary Emmanuel Piñol of the Department of Agriculture in ceremonies at the public plaza in Dumaguete City.

Piñol is on a “biyaheng bukid (trip to farms)” to find out what the agency can do to uplift the lives of the poorest sector of society, including the farmers and fisher folks.

Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo was assisted by Dumaguete Agriculturist William Ablong in receiving two power sprayers for the Dumaguete Organic Practitioners-Producers Association, headed by Danny Inquig of the Broccoli Farmers' Association; one shredder for the Junob Farmers' Association led by Anastacia Pinili; and seven plastic drums to the Cauliflower Farmers Association headed by Alejandro Cordura. .
